SPS Begins Accepting Donations for Toys for Tots on November 1

This holiday season marks the 24th consecutive year that Security Public Storage has teamed up with the US Marine Corp Toys for Tots donation drive. Additionally, this is our 7th consecutive year with 100% participation by all of our facilities! We’re excited to continue this annual tradition with donation bins available at all of our locations across the West Coast and the Washington DC metropolitan area. Donation bins will be accessible starting Monday, November 1, through Friday, December 3, 2021.

SPS Toys for Tots Donation Collection

The past two years have been a struggle for many families due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Toys for Tots donation program is a bright spot for many families across the country, and it warms our hearts to be able to send a message of hope to children in our communities who may not otherwise have gifts to open during the holiday season. We participate in Toys for Tots year after year because we believe in making a difference in the communities we serve.

After the hardships of 2020, we didn’t know what to expect during our donation season. But, our customers, staff and many others in the communities surrounding our facilities were extraordinarily generous and we collected 3,087 toys during the 2020 donation drive! This was an increase of nearly 50% over the previous year’s count — far and away our most successful drive to date!

In 2021, we would love to be able to surpass this number again and bring joy to even more families in our community. All 51 of our self-storage facilities will have a donation bin available to the public for Toys for Tots donations. Last year, in addition to in-person drop offs, some people ordered toys directly from an online retailer like Amazon and they were delivered to a nearby SPS location. This was an easy way for our staff, customers and the public to make a contact-free donation. If you donate in person, we look forward to seeing you! About Toys for Tots

Toys for Tots started in 1947 after Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Henricks took inspiration from his wife Diane, who had handcrafted several dolls and asked him to deliver them to an agency that supports children. After he failed to find any, Diane implored him to start one. Toys for Toys emerged as an annual holiday tradition. Today, the Marines’ Toys for Tots Foundation raises funds, collects and purchases toys, manages funds, educates the public, solicits corporate support, and provides promotional and support materials. The program distributes on average 18 million toys to 7 million children each year.

SPS is proud to support the Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program every year, because we believe in their goal to: “through the gift of a new toy, help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America’s less fortunate children.” We already look forward to our 25th anniversary with this wonderful program next year.

Donate Between November 1 and December 3, 2021

Please join us in helping children in our local communities by donating to Toys for Tots at the SPS storage facility nearest you. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of children and families in the areas surrounding our sites throughout the West Coast and the Washington DC metro area. We will begin collecting donations on Monday, November 1, and will be accepting newly purchased toys though the end of the day on Friday, December 3, 2021.
