Ben Eisler founded SPS in 1983, but started his career in the real estate industry, acquiring apartments, condos and industrial buildings. While looking at an apartment building in Modesto, his broker asked if he would be interested in getting into the self storage industry, which was relatively young at the time. The self-storage facility Eisler looked at in Modesto, California, would become the first SPS location. We still own the Modesto location on Woodland Avenue today — along with 50 more locations and counting.
