Neighborhood

Welcome to beautiful Oceanside, California! Security Public Storage has been a proud member of the Oceanside community since 1995. In 2020, we commissioned a stunning mural to showcase what so many of us love about living in Oceanside. The mural, painted by artist Jerry Ragg, features a nod to surf culture with a vintage VW van and surfers in the distance. You may also notice San Diego Chargers Hall of Famer Junior Seau (and his retired number 55) running into the sunset in the top left corner of the mural.

When you store your belongings at SPS on South Coast Highway, you’ll have access to all of the amazing things we love about our Oceanside neighborhood. It brings us great pride and joy to be a part of the Oceanside community and to share some of our favorite places, public spaces and restaurants with you.

A Day at the
Beach

We love being a hop, skip and a jump away from the Pacific Ocean. When you call Oceanside home, you truly are living and working with the beach in the background. Our Oceanside self-storage facility boasts a location convenient to I-5, just moments away from the beach. After a long day loading or unloading your storage unit, take a quick walk to Buccaneer Beach and cool off in the waves of the Pacific. There are a plethora of nearby beaches including Lifeguard Tower 9, Tower 11, Tower 15 and South Oceanside Beach.

A little further north from SPS you’ll find the west coast’s longest wooden pier. At 1,942 feet, Oceanside Pier is the perfect place to watch surfers, go fishing or walk with a friend. From here, you can see as far south as La Jolla and as far north as Catalina Island. Each August, people come from all over the world to participate in and watch the Annual World Bodysurfing Championships at Oceanside Pier and Beach.

From Oceanside Harbor, visitors to the beach can take part in an array of activities. Spend the day walking along the Pier and building sandcastles. You can try different water activities in Oceanside including surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, jet skiing, sport fishing, whale watching and more.

Surf Culture
Central

Not only can you hop on a surfboard in Oceanside, but you can also learn about the history of the sport and the lifestyle associated with it at the California Surf Museum. The Museum was founded in 1986 and serves as a resource center for those who want to learn about surfing, as well as the art and culture surrounding it. The Museum hopes to educate future generations on the enjoyment surfing can bring. Browse artifacts and check out various exhibits including information on surf boards, the pop culture around surfing, how to find your own swell and history of surfing legends. Surf’s up!

Fresh
Seafood and More
in Oceanside

Some may argue that the best way to find out about a neighborhood and its culture is to look first to the restaurant scene. Food unites us unlike anything else and the cuisine you’ll find in Oceanside brings people together. One of our favorite restaurants to share a meal is Privateer Coal Fire Pizza, located only a few minutes from SPS. Privateer bakes their pizzas in a seven-foot, 6,500 pound coal-burning oven. The oven is what makes their delicious Neapolitan-style pizzas thin and crunchy on the outside and soft and tasty on the inside. All of their veggies come directly from nearby Cyclops Farm, so you know they’re fresh!

Living on the ocean also means the odds are good you’ll be able to find fresh, delicious seafood nearby. Sinaloa Mexican & Seafood serves Mexican favorites with fresh seafood. If you’re looking for the best fish tacos in North County, look no further than Sinaloa. The fish is battered to perfection and the sauce is delicious. The Surf and Turf burrito ordered California-style is another favorite from this family-owned restaurant.

Wrench and Rodent Seabasstopub is a cozy, eclectic space that serves sushi and seafood dishes made from fresh, local fish and produce. The owners created the space for culinary exploration and collaboration, celebrating local and responsibly sourced ingredients. In addition to a set sushi menu, you can also order from a list of specials that change daily. Try Wrench and Rodent for fresh and creative seafood dishes.
