Adrenaline junkies across the country often have one thing in common — the need for storage space to accommodate their toys. Motorcycle, small vehicle, and ATV storage helps protect the investment, which isn’t a small number when considering the cost of motor vehicles, both large and small. When the temperatures become too frigid to ride your ATVs and dirt bikes, Security Public Storage offers clean, reliable and secure storage to help protect your adventure investments.

Choosing the Right Storage Unit for an ATV or Motorcycle

Motorcycle storage at SPS ATVs, dirt bikes, motorcycles and other small motor vehicles take up space, which can make them difficult to store in an already packed garage. If you live in an area with extreme weather, it’s important to have ATV storage that covers the vehicle, providing protection from the elements. Motorcycle and ATV storage is typically used seasonally, but can provide a clean and easily accessible space year round.

Choosing the right storage unit for your ATV or motorcycle depends on several factors, including the size of the vehicle itself and whether or not it will be stored on a trailer.

Storage Without a Trailer:

Small/Sport ATVs — While some smaller, sport ATVs can be stored in our small 5×5 units, we recommend the 5×10 units in most cases for ample space.
Side by Sides — Depending on the size of the vehicle, a 5×10 unit should world, but if it’s closer  to 10’ in length we recommend going up to the 10×15 units
Utility ATVs — Our 5×10 storage units fit nearly all utility ATVs.

If you have multiple motorcycles, ATVs, or side by sides, that will factor into the size of storage units necessary. If you need help selecting an ATV storage unit based on multiple vehicles, contact the SPS storage location nearest you and one of our skilled storage managers can assist you.

ATVs stored on a trailer Storage With a Trailer:

Many different types of small vehicles can be stored on a trailer in a storage unit, or parked in covered outdoor storage spaces. We often see ATVs, 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, motorcycles, dirt bikes and more stored on trailers and parked in a storage unit or outdoor parking space. In order to determine the size of ATV storage you’ll need if you have a trailer is determined by the total length of your trail. Trailers won’t fit into the 5x units, which means you’ll select at least a 10×15 storage unit, all the way up to 10×30 at some facilities.

Indoor or Outdoor ATV Storage?

Some of our facilities offer both indoor and outdoor storage for ATVs and other small vehicles. We recommend indoor storage for these smaller vehicles, as they provide the most protection from the elements. If you will be storing your ATVs on a trailer, we have outdoor parking spaces in certain locations. We typically recommend these outdoor spaces for RVs, campers, trailers and large boats.

Covered parking spaces, when available, provide a protective roof, providing shelter from the sun, rain and snow. If you will be storing your ATVs and small vehicles outside, proper preparation is essential. Ensuring that the vehicles are winterized, covered and protected from the elements is critical when storing your small adventure vehicles outdoors. Check with the SPS location nearest you to find out what indoor and outdoor ATV storage options are available.
