No. One of the most common complaints in the storage industry is the ‘Loyalty Tax’ where long-term customers end up paying significantly more than the new person in the unit next door. We believe this is an unfair practice. While a new customer might have a temporary ‘move-in special,’ their standard rate for that specific unit will be exactly the same as yours once their promotion ends.
No. Security Public Storage has no admin fees, move-in fees, deposits, or hidden charges. When you arrive on your first day, there will not be any last-minute surprise fees.
The price you see is all-inclusive, so you can move in with confidence knowing your monthly rate is exactly what you expected.
The only additional item to plan for is a lock, as locks are not included in the rental price. We sell high-quality locks, but you are not required to purchase one from us. If you plan to bring your own lock, we recommend calling the facility ahead of time so our team can help you choose a secure lock type that works well for your storage unit.
No. Because Security Public Storage caps all rate increases at 10%, a base rate cannot double. If a bill doubles, it is because a temporary move-in promotion, such as 50% off, has ended and the rate has returned to the standard monthly amount.
While these misunderstandings are rare, we genuinely feel bad when a customer is surprised or feels let down by what appears to be a large rate increase, even when that is not actually the case. We take this feedback seriously and are actively working on better ways to communicate promotion details more clearly.
Our goal is to make sure every customer understands exactly how their promotion works before they sign a lease.
The soonest your rate would be eligible for review is after 6 months, but that does not mean you will automatically receive an increase at that time.
Rate adjustments depend on the local market, demand, and the standard rate for your specific unit. If your rate is adjusted, every eligible customer renting that same specific unit will be adjusted to the same standard rate, and our advertised standard rate for that unit will be updated as well.
Your rate will not increase during your first 6 months, and if it does increase, that increase will not be more than 10%.
Yes. All of our storage units come with $3,000 of insurance coverage included in the initial price you see on our website, or are quoted over the phone or in person. If you choose an option for more than $3,000 of coverage, your monthly amount will increase accordingly. We believe in providing this protection upfront so your belongings are covered from day one without any hidden fees. No. Unlike many of our competitors, who charge for the full month regardless of when you leave, we do not believe in charging you for time you do not need.
As long as you let us know you are moving out before your last payment is processed, we will prorate your final bill so you only pay for the days you use your unit.
We do not offer refunds once a payment has been processed, so be sure to notify us in advance if you are planning to move out.
