One of our favorite venues in Modesto is the beautiful State Theatre located in our vibrant downtown area. The 560-seat auditorium opened in 1934 and was designed by notable architect Charles Lee. The gold embellishments, painted murals and towering sconces are gorgeous works of art on their own and when combined to create the State Theatre make them even more beautiful. Catch independent, classic and foreign films as well as live music concerts and events throughout the year.
It’s no secret we’re art lovers at SPS, and The Mistlin Gallery in downtown Modesto is one of our favorite galleries to discover regional artists. The Mistlin Gallery features permanent and rotating exhibitions and it hosts educational programs and workshops.
