Great Eats in
Glendora

Our location on Foothills Blvd. places us in a great spot for enjoying all of the great local restaurants in Glendora. Before or after working in your storage unit, we recommend grabbing a bite to eat at nearby Kara’s Korner Deli. This deli has some of the best homemade chicken noodle and matzo ball soup you can find in the area. The service and the food at this small deli will have you thinking of excuses to go to your storage unit so you can swing by Kara’s for lunch.

Another one of our favorite lunch spots is West Coast Cheesesteaks. The service is just as good as the food, which is saying a lot. Grab a juicy, flavorful cheesesteak sandwich that’s made with perfectly cooked steak, peppers, onions and mushrooms. Don’t forget to try the onion rings, which are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

If you’re looking for something on the lighter side, we recommend Miyako Sushi, only minutes away from SPS Glendora on Route 66. This sushi spot serves up rolls, maki, teriyaki and other Japanese dishes. Sit at the sushi bar and watch these creative rolls come to life. Miyako has great happy hour specials, which makes it the perfect spot to stop post-storage unit visits.

National Register of Historic Places
Rubel Castle

Michael Rubel acquired the land where he built Rubel Castle in 1959 and finished construction with his friends in 1986. Many consider this the first major recycling project in the United States. Rubel Castle is constructed partly out of concrete as well as scrap steel, rocks, bedsprings, coat hangers, bottles, and other repurposed materials. These materials were salvaged from the neighborhood when ranches and barns were giving them away to tract houses.

Rubel Castle is now operated by the Glendora Historical Society and they offer tours by appointment for $10. Locals consider Rubel Castle to be a treasure and it’s also listed in the National Register of Historic Places. From old and unique cars and tractors to a tiny home made of bottles to a one-of-a-kind clock that prompted a visit from Prince Phillip, there’s much to admire at Rubel Castle.
