After a long day moving, loading and unloading your storage unit in Gaithersburg, there’s nothing more refreshing than a 90 Minute Imperial IPA from Dogfish Head Alehouse. Esquire Magazine calls the brew, “perhaps the best IPA in America,” which is a tall order! Dogfish Head is less than a mile from SPS Gaithersburg, making it an easy stop whenever you visit your storage unit.

Ixtapalapa Taqueria offers tacos and Mexican small plates via counter services in a nearby shopping center. Here, you’ll be able to indulge in a variety of types of tacos and we recommend their made-from-scratch mole sauce. All of their traditional Mexican recipes are served quickly. The taco bar at Ixtapalapa includes everything from al pastor tacos to lengua (yep, that’s beef tongue). Don’t forget the classic margarita or a bucket of Mexican cervezas.

In need of a sweet treat to end the evening? Before heading home, stop by nearby Bruster’s Real Ice Cream. This counter-service ice cream shop offers sweet treats made fresh daily. Bruster’s even provides free ‘doggie sundaes’ to your furry friends and baby cones to children under 40” tall, making it the perfect retreat for the entire family. No matter what flavor strikes your fancy, you’ll be able to find something you love from the 24+ fresh flavors offered daily.

Take in the
Natural Beauty

Seneca Creek State Park, located less than a mile from SPS is one of our favorite spots to take in the natural beauty of Gaithersburg. This 6,700 acre park includes forests and farmlands with plenty of space for fishing, hiking and water sports. Take your paddleboard out on Clopper Lake or launch your boat from the self-launch dock. The Schwartz Peony Garden offers a peaceful and beautiful place to admire these stunning flowers. Additionally, there are a variety of picnic areas and pavilions in the park, making it the ideal location for either an afternoon picnic with your pup or a wedding venue for your entire party.

Art and History

One of our favorite places in Gaithersburg is the Arts Barn, which is part of Arts on the Green, the city’s home for visual and performing arts. Here, you’ll discover art exhibits, artists-in-residence, art classes, a gift shop and a 99-seat theater. Children and adults of all ages love taking classes and workshops in the Art Barn. Learn how to paint with watercolors or bring the children in your life to storytime at the Arts Barn.

Gaithersburg Community Museum offers visitors indoor and outdoor spaces with hands-on learning centers for children. Whether you’re new to the area or you’re a history buff looking to learn more about Gaithersburg, the Community Museum offers an ever-changing array of exhibits and activities at an interactive space for all ages. The museum is located in the B&O Rail complex in Olde Towne Gaithersburg.
