Get Creative in Bethesda’s
Arts and Entertainment
District

In 2002, the state of Maryland designated downtown Bethesda as an Arts & Entertainment District. Bethesda has become one of the most renowned communities in the Washington DC metro area for the brimming arts district, filled with inspiring artists and art venues. The streets of Bethesda are filled with public art, unique galleries and art events.

The Strathmore auditorium has been a major landmark in Maryland’s performing arts scene since 1981. At this 1,976-seat theater, you can catch the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra, for example. Stroll through the Sculpture Garden or catch a music festival on the front lawn. This stunning performance theater is truly a sight to behold.

The Bethesda Jazz and Supper Club is an old art deco theater that was revamped into a concert hall that showcases jazz and blues. Enjoy food, drinks and your favorite musicians in an intimate and elegant setting with incredible acoustics.

In addition to a thriving music and theater scene, you can enjoy public art all throughout Bethesda. The 300-acres of downtown Bethesda are filled with a beautiful collection of public art like the “Paint the Town” mural project. You’ll see wall murals all throughout town as well as sculptures and additional art installations throughout the city. Bethesda Elementary School even homes a sculpture we love called “You, Me & the Earth.”

Follow the
Capital Crescent
Trail

Easy access to the Capital Crescent Trail is one of the perks of renting storage in Bethesda at SPS. We’re located right along the trail and supported the construction of Neal Potter Plaza, a newer addition to the trail that includes room to sit and enjoy the weather under a beautiful pergola structure. SPS proudly supported the plaza construction along this beautiful trail by donating the bike rack and bike repair station and joined many others in financially contributing to this important project. Window screens on our building celebrate this popular trail.

Capital Crescent Trail leads through the heart of town through the Bethesda West and Wisconsin South neighborhoods. This 11-mile paved trail follows the old B&O Railroad line and is popular for walkers, joggers and cyclists.

Food for Thought
in Bethesda

Bethesda is home to some of the area’s best dining. Many residents migrate to Bethesda Row, which houses a variety of great restaurants and cafes, set among high-end fashion, home decor and retail boutiques. Enjoy cuisine from all over the world, all in a row in Bethesda. Matchbox Pizza Bistro, Bibibop Asian Grill and Spanish Diner are a few of our favorite restaurants at Bethesda Row. Treat yourself to traditional gelato from Dolcezza after your meal for a sweet escape.

Get a true feel for the exciting food scene by attending Taste of Bethesda, an annual event taking place in October that brings 60 restaurants and five entertainment stages to the city’s Woodmont Triangle. Every year people flock to Bethesda to sample food from the delicious restaurants, enjoy live entertainment and visit the kid’s corner for face painting. Admission is free, and taste tickets are sold on-site at the event.

In addition to excellent restaurants, Bethesda is home to two great farmers markets. Visit the Bethesda Central Farm Market at Bethesda Elementary School on Sunday’s from 9am – 1pm. The Montgomery Farm Women’s Cooperative Market is open several days a week at their location on Wisconsin Ave, between Willow and Leland Streets. The Bethesda Central Farm Market is one of the largest farmers markets in the region, hosting more than 100 vendors and artisan food producers year-round.
