Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Security Public Storage! For many of us, Thanksgiving looks different than in years past. The world still faces the coronavirus pandemic, which has greatly affected all of our lives. This year has been difficult for everyone, especially those who have lost a loved one to the virus and those experiencing unemployment. While it may be easy to reflect on the negative of 2020, we wanted to shine a light on the positive highlights from likely the strangest year any of us have ever experienced.

We’re Thankful for You

At SPS, we’re thankful for you! Thank you for sharing your journeys and stories with us. We love building relationships with our customers, and we consider you part of the SPS family. This year has required all of us to make many adjustments in our efforts to protect each other. You all worked with us as we implemented health, safety and sanitation protocols, including contact-less payment methods, talking to us on the phone from outside our offices during the spring lockdown, wearing masks and practicing social distancing at our facilities.

We appreciate your loyalty and look forward to continuing to serve your moving and self-storage needs. Together we will get through these difficult times and emerge stronger than ever before.

We’re Thankful for Our Team

Our team members all across the country continue to keep the wheels turning all year long and this year has been a true testament to the hard work they do. We’re grateful for employees who have been flexible in adopting new sanitation and safety practices, for banding together even with physical distance (and often plexiglass) between them and our customers. From the site managers working on the ground to provide you with clean and well-maintained storage units to the members of our team working office and administrative roles; thank you for your patience, your dedication and your flexibility.

In a year that saw overwhelming unemployment rates, SPS was fortunate to be able to keep all our facilities open and retain 100% of our employees throughout the pandemic, even when we had to temporarily close our offices to the public. Our site managers and staff were able to maintain regular hours and help customers by phone and online. We’re very proud of our team and how quickly they continue to adapt to new and evolving health and safety requirements.

We’re Thankful For Our Local Communities

During a year that has tested us in ways we never thought possible at this scale, we’re impressed, encouraged and grateful to be part of amazing local communities throughout the West Coast and the Washinton DC metro area. It’s important for us to contribute to each of the communities we operate in. We pride ourselves on working with great organizations like Habitat For Humanity Restore, the Red Cross and Toys for Tots. Several memories stand out from the past year and we’re over the moon to be a part of these wonderful communities.

Dedication of New Mural Celebrating the Oceanside Community

Oceanside CA mural We believe strongly that public art enriches our communities, bringing life to our environment and beauty to the people without the confinement of museums. At SPS, we embrace the arts and continue adding beautiful, large-scale murals and window screens — now at nearly 20% of our locations. In 2020, we unveiled our latest mural, our gift to the community of Oceanside, California. Additional murals can be found at our Baltimore, Salinas, Chula Vista and San Pablo facilities as well as window screens at Huntington Beach and Bethesda.

This summer, local mural artist Jerry Ragg, owner of Mural Decor, worked on the latest public art installation at SPS. The mural depicts the surf culture of the area as well as San Diego Chargers Hall of Famer Junior Seau (and his retired number 55) running into the sunset in the top left corner of the mural.

SPS Santa Rosa Drive-Up Donation Station

In September, SPS Santa Rosa teamed up with the Redwood Empire Food Bank to collect donations of food and funds to help their neighbors in need. They collected non-perishable goods and monetary donations through a contact-less drive-through dropoff event. Community members filled bags with food and dropped off donations at SPS Santa Rosa, with Plinko prizes adding some fun as they drove through. It was a heartwarming day we won’t soon forget, and we were grateful to be able to support Redwood Empire Food Bank, such a wonderful community resource.

New Additions at SPS

In March, we celebrated the acquisition and opening of our 50th self-storage facility! The 50th facility to join the SPS family is located in Fresno, CA, on Marks Ave. SPS started 37 years ago with one self-storage facility in Modesto, CA, and has grown to now include 50 locations on the West Coast and in the Washington DC metro area. As a family-owned and operated company, our philosophy focuses on providing our customers with unparalleled customer service and creating a positive and pleasurable storage experience. We love welcoming our Fresno – Marks Ave. location into the family.

Fairfield covered RV parking

Throughout 2020 we have been hard at work constructing an improved RV storage facility at our Fairfield location. We opened the new state-of-the-art RV storage facility in Fairfield at the end of October! The facility includes 180 RV parking spaces, all covered with lighting mounted under the covers. You can also find a dump station and many large spaces, 12-feet x 30-feet. Our Fairfield RV storage facility is conveniently located across the street from the Travis Air Force Base.

Happy Thanksgiving from SPS

We’re grateful every day for our customers, our employees and our local communities. It’s been a tough year and we’re thankful to be part of your journey and for you being a part of ours. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at SPS. We look forward to beating the coronavirus pandemic in 2021 and returning to some form of normalcy.
