Security Public Storage proudly announces our participation in the U.S. Marines’ Toys for Tots program. 2019 represents the 22nd consecutive year with some SPS locations participating and the 5th consecutive year with 100% participation. All SPS sites will have donation bins available beginning Friday, November 1 and will be collecting toys through December 6, 2019.
SPS and Toys for Tots
SPS has teamed up with Toys for Tots to collect toys for less fortunate children since 1997. Each of the last two years have been record-breaking with all SPS sites participating. In the last three weeks of the 2018 donation season, SPS collected nearly 1,400 new toys thanks to the continued support and generosity of our customers who come forward year after year. Many of our storage facilities end up looking like toy stores, which brings great joy to our company and the children and families benefiting from your donations. We truly have the best customers!
We encourage our customers, staff members and everyone throughout our local communities to donate at the SPS location nearest you. We believe strongly in helping less fortunate children in our communities who may not otherwise have gifts to open during the holiday season. SPS participates annually in the Marines’ Toys for Tots program because we believe in the mission and making a difference in all of the communities where we have storage facilities.
About Toys for Tots
Toys for Tots has been a holiday tradition since its inception in 1947. Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Henricks began Toys for Tots, taking inspiration from his wife Diane. Diane has handcrafted several dolls and asked Bill to deliver them to an agency that supports children in need. Bill reported back that no agency existed and his wife implored him to start one. In 1947, Henricks and the Marines in his reserve collected and distributed 5,000 toys in Los Angeles.
In 1991, the Marine Corps established the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, an IRS recognized 501 (c) (3) non-profit charity to help run and support the program. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation raises funds, purchases toys, manages funds, solicits corporate support, educates the public, and provides promotional and support materials. Currently, the program distributes an average of 18 million toys to 7 million less fortunate children annually. SPS proudly participates in the Toys for Tots program annually.

We know our customers donate to Toys for Tots year-after-year out of the goodness of their own hearts, but this year a giveaway will accompany the toy drive. This year, we encourage those donating to snap a photo when making a donation at their local SPS facility and share it on Facebook or Instagram. Donate to Toys for Tots at SPS
Join us in helping less fortunate children in our communities this holiday season by donating to Toys for Tots at the SPS storage facility near you. All of our self-storage facilities on the West Coast and in the Washington D.C. metro area will have boxes available to collect your donations beginning Friday, November 1 through Friday, December 6, 2019. Help us make this the most successful Toys for Tots donation season yet at SPS.
